Some of the cycling essentials I’ve learned you just can't do without are:
helmet - of course, this goes without saying. But, an important point to remember is to make sure you get a good helmet with adjustable straps and which fits you well - not all skulls are the same!
pump - in case of flat tyres;
repair kit - in case of punctures. Make sure you know how to fix one of these!
gel shorts - take away the pain of getting ‘saddle sore’ with these shorts. The gel inserts are cleverly placed to keep all your most sensitive areas free from friction!
first aid kit;
chamois cream - this clever cream stops friction from between clothes and skin when cycling;
energy gels - if you’re going a long distance, gels full of nutrients and sugars provide a boost that will keep your body going;
water - of course!
